Derby RFC welcomes you to a new season!

On behalf of Derby RFC and the Mini & Juniors section, I am again delighted to extend a warm welcome to all parents, players and supporters alike. Whether you are returning to the club for the new season or joining us as a new recruit, I look forward to enjoying with you over the forthcoming season what I hope will be another great season of rugby and with it the enjoyment that this brings to all involved. Last season was again approached a very positive manner for which all players, parents and coaches should be highly commended for. This attitude towards the game continues to raise the level of enjoyment of all those involved and the camaraderie that we develop with the teams we play and particularly those who visit us at Haslams, is second to none.

We continue to be one of the most successful Clubs in the region and are particularly well regarded in respect of our development of players and the game in general as well as our continued achievements in the various NLD competitions. Our juniors are well represented at County level, Schools of Rugby and the EPDG at Leicester Tigers RFC. This success, however, is not just down to individual talent but also the support of a host of coaches, managers, parents, committee members and volunteers and on behalf of all Derby players past and present, I offer the Clubs sincere gratitude.

Off the pitch, we still desperately need volunteers to step forward and I would again reinforce the points that, if you are willing to assist in any manner, please do contact your team manager, committee member or myself.

We are still reliant on fund raising, sponsorship and membership support and would remind you of the Club Membership and Vice-president Membership both of which are available on a voluntary donation basis. These are both primarily aimed at parents, girlfriends, family etc, who want to play a bigger part at Derby RFC and become a fully contributing and voting member. For more information on either of these ways to become a full member of Derby RFC and make that little extra contribution, please ask feel free to contact any of the Committee or check the website.

For the season 2012/13, we will continue to offer the mini age groups (U7 to U12’s) a voucher to purchase a Club playing shirt for 50% of the normal shop price, but this will unfortunately be subject to availability due to a limited remaining stock (preference will be given to those who did not take up the offer last season). Please ask your team manager for a voucher.

I would take this opportunity to draw your attention to the new season’s Player Registration form (a PDF document) which, rather than issue various Codes of Conduct as part of a Parents Pack (a PDF document), we have reconciled and updated on the website. Your cooperation in taking time to review these on the website is requested.

Finally, as before, I hope that all players have an exciting and injury free season and that everyone enjoys their rugby.
