Derby RFC Minis & Juniors
On behalf of the Derby RFC Mini & Juniors Section, it gives us great delight to extend a warm welcome to all parents, players and supporters alike. If you are returning to Haslams for another spell or joining us as a new recruit, we look forward to sharing with you another great season of rugby and sharing with you the enjoyment that this brings to all involved. As in previous seasons we ask that you continue to support the game, the players and the Club in a truly positive manner to ensure that we achieve the absolute maximum sportsmanship and camaraderie for all that play and visit us at Haslams, Home of Derby RFC.
Last season we enjoyed a further successful year of development, particularly in respect to our achievements in the various NLD competitions. Our juniors were well represented at County level and through the Developing Player Programme with Leicester Tigers RFC. This success, however, is not just down to individual talent but also to the support of a host of coaches, managers, parents and volunteers.
Off the pitch, we have made great strides towards the upkeep, maintenance and success of the Club but we still desperately need volunteers to keep ‘ahead of the game’. We are running various mini rugby courses for all those parents wanting to participant and help out with there age groups to get a better understanding of the game and the way it is coached, so if you feel like getting involved rather than just watching please contact your head coach. The facility continues to age and whilst we have undertaken various maintenance and redecoration Projects, we are still reliant on fund raising, sponsorship and membership support. To this end, we would encourage you to ask your age group Coaches as to how you might support by taking up a form of Club Membership. Both Vice-president and Club Membership are available on a voluntary donation basis and are aimed at parents, girlfriends, family etc, who want to play a bigger part at Derby RFC and become a fully contributing and voting member.
Finally, as before, we hope that all players have an exciting and injury free season and that everyone enjoys their rugby!
Yours in Rugby!
Mick Thomson (Head of Juniors Rugby) and Andie Gooding (Head of Minis Rugby)
