1st Jun'08 - Three Coaches setoff for
Twickenham at 6am (hic)
yesterday morning with Derby's U9s, U11s and Supporters on them, the destination
was Twickenham for the Gullivers Finals Day.
In the Gullivers Final our U9s won by 1 Try to
Nil against Braintree and our U11s lost by 2 Tries to Nil against Salisbury. To
reach Twickenham both sides had got through the Qualifying tournament at the
Gullivers Festival in Nottingham earlier this year. As a Club Derby RFC have
been very privileged to have had Teams reach the Twickenham Finals day for the
past 5 years, it's not everyone that can say they've played at Twickenham. Well
done to both of our young sides this year, I'm sure that it will be a day that
they will remember for a very long time.
Once the Gullivers Finals had been played out
we all sat back to take in and watch the Guiness Premiership Final between
London Wasps and Leicester Tigers unfold in
front of over 81,000 supporters inside Twickenham - awesome !
Here's the Photograph Galleries of our
U9s at Twickenham, our
U11s at Twickenham and also of the
London Wasps v Leicester Tigers match.

27th Mar'08 - On Friday 21st March Ilkeston
RFC fielded an ’Academy Invitational XV’ when hosting Irish touring side
Bruff U18’s, who were preparing for their provincial Munster cup final in a
week’s time. The game, which resulted in an 8 try 34-15 win for the Ilkeston
Barbarians, featured three Derby RFC U16s in the form of Ryan Holmes, Tom Rusga
and Joe Pass as well as several players from Nottingham Academy – with Academy
Manager John Widdowson watching the game. A thoroughly enjoyable game to play
and watch – it was played in true Barbarian spirit; with the Barbarians only
meeting up during the warm up of the game, in contrast to Bruff who have
reportedly been together since U10s and undefeated since 2005/06.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
24th Mar'08 - Derby have 3 Junior sides

Final it's Derby v Nottingham (KO 12.15pm) and in the U15s Final it's Derby v
Kesteven (KO 1:30pm).

Sep'07 - Lexus Tournament success - Minis & Juniors
Chairman Graham Darby writes .... The big weekend has come and gone already and
once again Derby RFC have shown themselves to the rest of the Region and Lexus
UK that not only are we more than capable of running a major sporting event but
also of competing within it to the highest level. None of this would have been
possible without the enormous efforts of so many who gave up their time whether
employees of the club, volunteers, parents or committee members. It wouldn’t be
right to single anyone out so please accept my personal thanks to all of you.
Running a successful competition is one thing
but the success of the Derby teams entered was no mean feat either with a Derby
RFC side in every final ending with two runners up and two champions. To all
those players let me just say what a remarkable achievement that represents and
just how proud the Club is of you, well done lads.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks
to our Club President Mr Paul Richardson for coming along to present the
trophies.
A special mention must also go to the lads
from the U15’s development side who made up the majority of Walsalls U15’s. This
was arranged last minute rather than lose a team from the league. That is the
spirit of rugby and your willingness to help a fellow team in this manner is a
credit to you, thank you.
I must also say a big thank
you to Hinckley, Walsall, Olney, Norwich, Kenilworth, Nottingham and Stourbridge
RFC’s, the way in which your players, parents and coaching staff conducted
themselves both toward the tournament and to us as a club was exemplary and made
the whole day a great pleasure to host.
Here’s looking forward to
the next Lexus Regional Tournament - Graham Darby, Derby RFC Minis & Juniors Chairman.

21st Apr - Congratulations go out to Derby's U16s Tigers Squad
who took part in Scotland’s largest rugby festival last weekend at Ayr

winning their end of season tournaments beating a local side Maar in the
Final 15 - 05. The lads, as it happened met Nottingham in the Semi Final
